Questions about rigid boxes
What is the difference between a rigid box and a folding carton?
A rigid box is built from thick grayboard (1000 to 1500 gsm) and wrapped in paper, so it keeps its shape and is never folded flat. A folding carton is a single sheet of 16pt to 24pt paperboard that ships flat and is folded at your bench. Rigid boxes cost more and feel heavier; cartons suit retail shelves and higher volumes.
Do rigid boxes ship flat?
Standard rigid boxes ship assembled, which takes more freight space. The collapsible rigid box ships flat and snaps up into a magnetic closure box, which is the usual choice when freight cost matters.
Can I add an insert to a rigid box?
Yes. Inserts can be die-cut paperboard, foam or velvet-flocked, cut to your product. The fragrance, jewelry, watch, spirits and tech boxes are built around an insert already.
What is the minimum order for rigid boxes?
Most rigid styles start at 200 units. A few start higher, such as the cigar box at 250 and the advent calendar at 300. Each product page shows its own minimum.
