Spirits presentation box

1500 gsm, fitted insert200 minimum · 12 to 14 business days

A spirits presentation box is a heavy rigid box on 1500 gsm board with an insert cut to your bottle, so a 750 ml or 700 ml bottle stands or lies without moving. We produce them from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof, as a magnetic lid, a shoulder box or a book style. A standard 750 ml box is 4.5 by 4.5 by 13 inches.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose a spirits presentation box for a limited release, a cask strength bottling, a gift set with glasses, or any bottle where the box will sit on a bar cart after the bottle is empty. The 1500 gsm walls carry a full 750 ml bottle without bowing, and the insert keeps the bottle from touching the walls. It suits whisky, gin, rum, mezcal, cognac and wine sold as a gift. This is packaging guidance, not legal advice; check the labeling rules for your state and category.

Choose a two-piece lid and base box instead when the bottle ships without an insert and only needs a clean outer, because the neck and insert of a full presentation box are wasted on a plain shipper. Choose a wine and spirits carrier for anything sold in multiples, since a rigid box is one bottle, one box.

Questions people ask

Upright or lying flat?

Upright when the box will stand on a shelf or a bar and the front face is the label. Lying flat when the box is a gift set with glasses, or when a magnetic lid opening on the long side gives the reveal you want. Upright boxes need a taller insert to grip the bottle at the shoulder and the base; flat boxes cradle it in two places.

Will 1500 gsm board carry a full bottle?

Yes. A full 750 ml bottle weighs about 2.9 pounds, and a 13 inch tall box on 1500 gsm board holds that without the walls bowing or the base sagging. On 1200 gsm the same box flexes when picked up by the lid. This is one of the few boxes where we do not suggest going lighter to save on board.

Do I need to reserve space for warning text?

Usually, yes. Most spirits categories require the government warning and the alcohol content on the outer pack, and some states add their own lines. We reserve a clear panel on the back of the dieline and mark it, so your designer knows where it goes. This is packaging guidance, not legal advice; confirm the wording with your compliance contact.

Can the box hold two glasses as well?

Yes. A flat box of about 16 by 12 by 5 inches takes a 750 ml bottle lying down with two tumblers or two coupes in cut-outs beside it. Glasses are held by the foot and the rim in a two-layer insert so they cannot touch. Send us the glass height and rim diameter and we spec the cavities to them.

Does the box work for shipping a bottle?

It protects the bottle inside a shipper, not on its own. For parcel shipping we pair the presentation box with a corrugated bottle shipper or a mailer with a corrugated cradle. The rigid box takes the knocks and the insert stops the bottle moving; the outer takes the label and the tape.

How is the spirits presentation box different from the wine gift box?

Board and options. The spirits box is 1500 gsm on every panel, with a two-layer paperboard, EVA foam or molded pulp insert cut to the bottle, a choice of magnetic, shoulder, book style or ribbon closures, and a panel reserved for label text, from 200 units in 12 to 14 business days after proof. The wine gift box is 1200 gsm with a linen wrap as standard, a fitted cradle for one bottle and a two-piece lid with a magnetic option, from 200 units in 10 to 14 business days. Heavy or unusual spirits bottles suit the spirits box; a standard 750 ml wine gift suits the wine box.
