Vape packaging
Vape packaging at Tria is the printed packaging around the device: vape boxes with a fitted cradle for disposables and pods, cartridge boxes for 510 carts, e-liquid boxes for 30 to 100 ml bottles, paperboard cart tubes with a child-resistant cap, and labels. Cartons start at 500 units and tubes, bags and labels at 200, each with a free digital proof and a dieline that has the warning panel laid out before your art goes on; everything ships empty, and child resistance comes from the bottle closure or the tube cap, not the carton.
Vape and cartridge packaging we make

Which one do you need?
| Product | Pack it in | Child-resistant option | Minimum | Lead time after proof |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Pod kit with a device and spare pods | Vape box sized to the kit, with a die cut paperboard insert | Not from the carton | 500 (box), 200 (insert) | 10 to 12 business days |
| Bottle of nicotine e-liquid | E-liquid box plus a bottle label | Comes from the bottle closure, which your bottle supplier provides | 500 (box), 200 (labels) | 10 to 12 (box), 5 to 7 (labels) business days |
| Cannabis or hemp cartridge, no CR rule in your market | Vape cartridge box | Not from the carton | 500 units | 10 to 12 business days |
| Cannabis cartridge where the state requires CR packaging | Pre roll and vape tube with a cartridge cradle | Push-and-turn cap tested to 16 CFR 1700.20 | 200 units | 10 to 14 business days |
| Cannabis disposable too wide for a tube | Child resistant mylar bag, opaque | Certified CR zipper tested to 16 CFR 1700.20 | 200 units | 10 to 14 business days |
| Batch, lab or state sticker on finished cartons | Product label on a roll | Not applicable | 200 units | 5 to 7 business days |
The three custom vape boxes are the cartons people mix up. The vape box holds a whole device or disposable pen in a paperboard cradle cut to its shape, so it does not rattle. The cartridge box is the small one, built around a single cart with room on the panels for dosage and batch text. The e-liquid box is tall and slim for a dropper or unicorn bottle. Send us the real device, cart or bottle dimensions, or a sample for a fit check, before you sign off the dieline. Sizing cart packaging from a spec sheet alone is how a cartridge ends up sliding around in its carton.
Lay out the warning panel first
For nicotine vapes, FDA requires the exact statement "WARNING: This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical." on at least 30 percent of each of the two principal display panels, in type no smaller than 12 point (21 CFR 1143.3). On a carton those panels are normally the front and the back, and on a 1.25 inch wide e-liquid box that band eats a lot of the front. We draw it on the dieline before the brand art goes on, which saves a round of proofs.
Child resistance belongs to the container. The Child Nicotine Poisoning Prevention Act requires liquid nicotine containers sold to consumers to be child-resistant packaging (15 U.S.C. 1472a), tested under 16 CFR 1700.20. Sealed, prefilled, disposable cartridges are excluded, and a refill bottle is not. We do not make bottles or closures, and a carton around a bottle does not make it child resistant. What the e-liquid box can add is a tamper-evident perforated strip across the tuck.
Cannabis and hemp cartridges follow state rules instead, and many states require child-resistant packaging for them. That is where the paper tube with the push-and-turn cap or the child resistant mylar bag comes in, both tested to 16 CFR 1700.20 with documentation on request. Selling online also brings in the PACT Act for nicotine vapes, which affects the shipper and your fulfillment rather than the retail box (ATF, PACT Act). The vape packaging compliance guide has the detail, including the December 2026 change to the federal hemp definition. This is packaging guidance, not legal advice.
How an order works
- Send a brief. Device, cartridge or bottle dimensions, quantity, and whether the product is nicotine, cannabis or hemp. The quote and a dieline drawn to your size usually come back within one business day of a complete brief.
- Feel the materials. The Swatch Book of boards, wraps and finishes is free, so you choose a stock with it in your hand.
- Artwork. Drop your art onto the dieline around the warning panel, or use our free design help if you do not have files yet.
- Approve the proof. The complimentary digital proof usually follows within one business day of the artwork. Printed proofs and physical prototypes are available on request. Nothing is produced until you approve.
- Production. Lead time is counted from proof approval: labels 5 to 7 business days, vape cartons 10 to 12, tubes and mylar bags 10 to 14. Everything ships empty for you or your filler to pack.
Questions about vape packaging
How is this page different from the CBD packaging page and the vape compliance guide?
This page is the product side: which box, tube, bag or label fits a disposable, a pod, a cartridge or a bottle of e-liquid, with the minimum and lead time for each. The vape packaging compliance guide holds the rules in detail, and CBD packaging covers tinctures, gummies, flower and pre-rolls. If your cartridge is hemp or CBD, start there and come back for the cartridge box or tube.
Is a vape box child resistant?
No. A folding carton is not child resistant on its own. For nicotine products, the federal rule applies to liquid nicotine containers such as refill bottles, and the bottle and its closure provide it; sealed, prefilled, disposable cartridges are excluded. For cannabis cartridges in states that require it, use the paper tube with the push-and-turn cap tested to 16 CFR 1700.20, or the child resistant mylar bag.
How big does the nicotine warning have to be on vape packaging?
Under 21 CFR 1143.3 the warning must cover at least 30 percent of each of the two principal display panels, usually the front and back of the carton, in type no smaller than 12 point. We put that band on the dieline first and you design around it.
Do you write the warning text or pack the devices?
Neither. The wording is yours or your counsel’s, and we set it on the proof exactly as you supply it. We supply packaging only: boxes, tubes, bags and labels ship empty, and you or your filler put the device, cartridge or bottle in.
What is the minimum order for vape packaging?
The vape box, vape cartridge box and e-liquid box start at 500 units. The pre roll and vape tube, child resistant mylar bag, bottle and product labels and the die cut insert start at 200. Each product page states its own minimum.
How long does vape packaging take?
Lead time is counted from proof approval: bottle and product labels 5 to 7 business days, the three vape cartons and the die cut insert 10 to 12, and the tube and child resistant mylar bag 10 to 14.
Ready to price your vape packaging?
Send the device, cartridge or bottle dimensions, the quantity and whether it is nicotine, cannabis or hemp. The quote and dieline usually come back within one business day, with the warning panel already laid out.
