Velvet flocking
Velvet flocking bonds short fibers to a paperboard or foam insert so the product rests on a soft velvet surface instead of bare board or foam. It is the standard insert finish for jewelry and watch boxes and for small fragrance bottles. It is not for food contact, so chocolate and bakery inserts use plain food-contact board instead.

When to choose it, and when not to
Choose velvet for anything polished, small and valuable: rings, earrings, pendants, bracelets, watches, a 30 ml perfume. It protects polished metal from scratches, stops small pieces sliding, and makes the moment the lid opens feel considered.
Skip it for food, and for products where a plain cradle does the job, such as jars in a mailer. A die-cut paperboard insert is the simpler, lighter option; for heavy or fragile items a foam insert holds the product without movement.

Questions about velvet flocking
Is velvet flocking real velvet?
No. It is short fibers bonded to the insert, which gives a velvet look and feel on a paperboard or foam base.
Can flocked inserts be used for chocolate?
No. Flocking is not for food contact. Chocolate boxes use a die-cut tray in food-contact board.
What colors does velvet flocking come in?
Name the color you want in your brief and the team will confirm what is available for your insert on the quote.
Paperboard or foam base under the flocking?
Paperboard for slim slots and cushions that hold rings and earrings. Foam for watches and heavier pieces that need a deeper, firmer cavity.
