When to choose it, and when not to

Choose a printed seed packet for a seed brand, nursery, or garden-focused business selling individual seed varieties at retail, farmers markets, or online, where the packet itself carries the growing information the customer needs.

Choose a plain kraft pouch or a bulk poly bag instead if you're selling loose seed in bulk to wholesale growers rather than packaged retail units, since the printed info panel and smaller format here are built for the end consumer.

Questions people ask

Do you fill the packets with seed, or do we?

You do. Tria supplies packaging only, so packets ship empty for you to fill and seal by hand or on your own line. Tell us the seed and fill weight and we size the packet to suit.

Is the moisture-resistant coating enough to protect seed viability long-term?

It protects against everyday humidity and handling during normal retail shelf life, but it's not a full barrier laminate built for years of storage. For long-term seed banking, a foil or high-barrier pouch would be a better fit than a paper packet.

Can each variety have its own design, or do they all need to match a template?

Each variety can have its own fully custom design and back-panel information. We just recommend keeping the info panel layout consistent across your line so customers know where to look for planting details.

What information is standard on the back panel?

Variety name, planting depth, spacing, days to harvest, and light or water needs are the common fields. You provide the actual text and we lay it out to fit.

Can I order a smaller test batch of a new variety before committing to 1,000?

1,000 is our production minimum since that's what makes the print setup worthwhile at this small format. For a genuinely small test, a generic packet with an applied sticker label is a lower-minimum bridge option.

Does the fold-and-tuck version actually stay closed without a seal?

Yes, the fold-and-tuck construction uses a friction tuck that holds closed under normal handling and shipping, and it also lets the customer reopen and reclose the packet, which is useful if they're only planting part of the seed at once.

How is a seed packet different from a three side seal pouch?

The seed packet is paper: 60lb coated stock with a moisture-resistant inside coating, fold-and-tuck or glued seam, printed both sides with a back panel for planting depth, spacing and days to harvest, from 1,000 units in 10 to 12 business days after proof. A three side seal pouch is laminated film, heat sealed, with a foil barrier option, from 200 units in 10 to 12 business days. Retail garden seed suits the paper packet. Seed that needs a true moisture barrier for long storage suits the film pouch.
