Bread bag

1.5 mil poly or glassine paper1,000 minimum · 8 to 10 business days

A bread bag is a long, narrow bag sized for a standard loaf or baguette, closed with a twist tie, clip, or fold rather than a heat seal so a bakery can keep the bag reusable as the loaf gets used. We run them in poly or glassine paper from 1000 units, ready in about 8 to 10 business days after proof.

When to choose it, and when not to

Choose a bread bag for a bakery selling loaves or baguettes where the bag needs to stay open and reusable as the customer works through the loaf, rather than a single-use sealed package.

Choose a heat-sealed poly bag instead for a shelf-stable, longer-life bread product sold at retail, since an open-top bread bag isn't built to hold in freshness the way a fully sealed package does.

Questions people ask

Should I go with poly or glassine paper?

Poly holds in more moisture and is the more common choice for a soft sandwich-style loaf. Glassine paper has a more traditional bakery look and breathes more, which suits a crusty artisan loaf better. Tell us your bread style and we'll recommend.

Do you supply twist ties or clips, or just the bag?

We supply the bag itself. Twist ties and clips are typically sourced separately, and we're happy to point you toward a supplier if you need one.

Will perforated vents let a crusty loaf stay crisp longer?

Yes, vents let excess steam escape rather than softening the crust from trapped moisture. That's worth it for a crusty artisan loaf and less necessary for a soft sandwich bread where you want moisture retained.

Can the bag fit an unusually long baguette?

Yes, we can run a custom length beyond our standard baguette size. Tell us your loaf's actual length and we'll size accordingly.

Is the printed ink food safe if it's touching the bread?

The print sits on the outside of the bag, and the ink documentation for food packaging is supplied with the quote. For a bag with an interior print that touches the bread directly, we confirm the specific ink meets that requirement before you approve the proof.

Can I get a small viewing window in a paper bread bag?

Yes, a die-cut window with a clear film patch is available on the glassine paper option if you want the bread visible without a fully clear bag.

How is the bread bag different from the bakery bag?

The bread bag is sized long and narrow for a loaf or baguette, in 1.5 mil poly or glassine, and stays open for a twist tie or clip so it reseals as the loaf is eaten; vents are optional for crusty bread. The bakery bag is grease-resistant kraft paper for pastries and cookies, in flat, side gusset or window styles. The bread bag starts at 1,000 units in 8 to 10 business days after proof; the bakery bag at 200 units in 10 to 12 business days. Many bakeries stock both.
